Austria is in some ways the birthplace of Entrust. Our first staff members lived here during the Cold War, quietly traveling into neighboring communist countries to equip persecuted church leaders with solid biblical understanding and ministry skills. At the same time, our staff invested in local neighbors, sharing the gospel, worshipping in Austrian or international churches, leading study groups. We published many of our original ministry courses in German for use by our Austrian hosts.
Vienna served as the European headquarters for Entrust from 1979 until the early 1990s. After the Cold War ended, most staff left Austria to live in the countries which they’d been visiting on regular training circuits. But from 1979 until today, we’ve always had at least one staff member living here – consistently sharing Christ, discipling and mentoring in Austria and traveling to neighboring nations to do the same.
